Commissioning (Cx) or Retro-commissioning (RCx)

Today's topic offers some clarification as to the differences between Commissioning and Retro commissioning and why facility owners make it a requirement for all of their construction projects.

If you are a building owner and you plan to start construction on a new building, keep reading. What you are about to learn may very well save you up to 3% of the total construction cost and position you and your new building in a more economical, environmental and more valuable position. Enhanced energy efficiency, security, access controls, fire protection and building automation systems are changing the complexity of today's buildings, not to mention the overall costs of production. Traditional construction delivery provides for the installation of these advanced systems but does not ensure that they operate seamlessly or even correctly upon completion. So if no one is verifying the accuracy and total completion of your building, then how do you know you have received what you paid for? Well that is where the application of Commissioning and Retro-commissioning pays off.
