WebCTRL chosen for Chinese Market
It was once said that, "Solutions are the gifts from the problems solvers of the world." Tuesday, Carrier announced intentions to use Automated Logic Web Control (WebCTRL) to manage the HVAC systems for 20 future TESCO superstores to be built in China.
Carrier has been selected by the global retail giant TESCO to provide air conditioning equipment for 20 future TESCO superstores. In addition, Carrier will perform chiller retrofits for existing TESCO stores across China. Carrier Corp. is a unit of United Technologies Corp as is Automated Logic Controls makers of WebCTRL. Working through a standard browser, WebCTRL can support access from many browser-equipped devices, including desktops and cell phones, providing communication flexibility and control. Utilizing reporting, trending, and scheduling capabilities, WebCTRL will help the superstore analyze energy consumption, implement more efficient energy programs and save operating costs. Through a network of factory-owned branches and independent dealers, ALC's systems are installed in commercial, educational, industrial, data center, healthcare, government, hospitality, entertainment and retail locations worldwide. Automated Logic is a subsidiary of Carrier Corporation.

Keeping Specifications "Specific"
Part "3" of a three-part series covering an Engineers point of view about Construction Specifications and the best practices that keep the details in and confusion out
Focusing on the details can muddy up the intention of the Engineer and cause oversight on the part of those who are left to the execution and installation of design. So how can Engineers better develop specifications that not only dictate the true intent of design, but also "Clearly" specify what methods should be adhered to with out being generic?
Introduction of the desktop computer and word processing software has opened may opportunities to advance our standings and implement time-saving steps in order to become more efficient, however, these same tools have contributed to costly mistakes and oversights that ultimately force the project to last longer and cost more to the customer. Many call this scenario, "Death by Copy, Cut, & Paste."
Automated Logic has taken a novel approach to circumvent this kind of elemental flaw by introducing CtrlSpecBuilder a free online productivity tool that creates HVAC control specifications based on the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Guideline 13-2000 and follows CSI Master Format for section 15900.. The resulting specifications are open and non-proprietary, and include sequences of operations and points lists. This simple and FREE web based tool can not only save time, but insure that the specifications being generated are specific and detailed accordingly for any HVAC project of any size and includes many of today's Energy Management initiatives which include 3-party integrations and control systems specifications.
